I don’t think I have blogged about my breadmaker yet? Probably because it’s not been used for the past couple of weeks. It is by far my best Freecycle item yet! For those of you who are not familiar with Freecycle, The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 4,528 groups with 5,362,000 members across the globe. It is a group of people who give & get stuff for free in their own towns. It’s all about recycling and reusing to keep the good stuff out of landfills. Believe me there is some rubbish to found on there but my breadmaker was like new with the instruction book and measuring cups!
Anyway today, due to having run out of weetabix I couldn’t make our current favourite ‘Weetabix Loaf’ so instead decided to try out Porridge bread for a nice midmorning snack.
Here’s the recipe (especially for Amybella!)
- 1 cup Milk
- 2 Eggs (Beaten)
- 1/2 teaspoon Sunflower Oil
- 2 Tablespoons Golden Syrup
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 2 Cups Plain Flower
- 1 Cup Porridge Oats
- 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Bicarbonate of Soda
Load all the ingredients into the bread pan in you bread machine in the order stated in your instruction book then use quick setting.
It’s actually very nice, a lot like Soda bread! The recipe says 2 tablespoons of Golden Syrup plus 1/4 cup of Sugar – which I thought was a lot so just used 2 tablespoons of golden syrup and 2 tablespoons of Sugar, which I think is plenty!
